Tagore’s vision and its present relevance

Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;Where knowledge is free;                                                                                                                                         Where the world has not been broken up into fragments                                     by  narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;                  Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the                      dreary desert sand of dead habit;                                                                                Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening                           thought and action—                                                                                                           Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake

A Moments Indulgence

 I ask for a moment’s indulgence to sit by thy side. The works that I have  in   hand I will finish afterwards.

 Away from the sight of thy face my heart knows no rest nor respite, and my work becomes an endless toil in a shoreless sea of toil.

Today the summer has come at my window with its sighs and murmurs; and the bees are plying their minstrelsy at the court of the flowering grove.

Now it is time to sit quite, face to face with thee, and to sing dedication of life in this silent and overflowing leisure.              –  Rabindranath Tagore
